High-Purity Oil Separation via Electrolysis
R&DInvestigating whether electrolysis can improve separation of oil, water, and gas in production fluids, with the goal of cleaner oil output and fewer downstream handling problems.
fluidselectricityexperimentoilfield
Project goal
Explore whether electrolysis can be introduced into the oil and gas separation process to improve phase separation between oil, water, and gas in production fluids.
Working hypothesis
Electrolysis may influence emulsion behavior, coalescence, charge distribution, and phase separation alongside conventional gravity, residence time, chemical treatment, and mechanical internals.
Current focus
Current work is focused on getting the model to operate as intended. If the concept proves impractical, the goal is still to understand why. Negative results are useful data.
